Leadership

You’ve probably heard the phrase ‘Leaders are born not made’ many times before. At Presence we take a different approach. Leadership is the behaviour we exert when we take responsibility for our actions and their consequences. It’s the challenge we face when we assume responsibility for guiding others.

Most leadership programmes concentrate on leadership skills – although important, we believe skills alone do not make leaders. Our approach takes account of skills, style and behaviour. We work with leaders, and potential leaders, to develop their own distinctive personal presence, build self belief and emerge as charismatic and confident leaders.

21st Century leaders focus on growing deep organisational engagement amongst their followers, and on generating a shared and common understanding of a dynamic vision for the future. Together we explore the leaders’ personal values, beliefs and purpose – understanding these gives a strong anchor point through times of uncertainty and change. We look at emotional intelligence (EQ) and the significance of strong relationships in the workplace, the importance of communication in its widest sense, making real connections with others – building rapport and influencing others, developing authentic relationships that are mutually rewarding for both parties.

So, the Presence approach includes all of the above, underpinned by a combination of experiential and theoretical learning – linking intellectual understanding and an emotional appreciation of what it means to demonstrate leadership. Our programmes are focused, provocative and challenging – a different approach delivering sustainable results.
